My FTP Places

  Add full FTP capability to your Windows Explorer!

1. Downloading and installing My FTP Places

NOTE: My FTP Places works on Microsoft Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP/2003 computers. If you are running Windows 95/98 make sure that you have Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher installed.

The first step is downloading My FTP Places to your local disk. You can go to the installing section if you have already downloaded myftppsetup.exe otherwise click the following link: http://www.myftpplaces.com/download/myftppsetup.exe.

You will be prompted for these two download options:
- OPEN or RUN from the current location,
- SAVE to disk

Choose the second option (SAVE to disk). You should get a dialog asking where you want to save the file on your computer. Be sure to remember the folder you choose so you can find it later.

Wait while the file is downloading, download can range from seconds to minutes depending on how fast your connection is.

Once the download is successfully complete you can install the program.


Go to the folder that you downloaded the program to and double-click on the My FTP Places set up file (myftppsetup.exe).
For Windows XP users: if you are running Windows XP with Service Pack 2 you may get the "Security Warning" dialog box. You should not worry that myftppsetup.exe may harm your computer. Click on the "Run" button in the "Security Warning" dialog box.

You will see the Welcome to the My FTP Places Setup Wizard dialog box which looks similar to the following.

Important: During installation, if a version of the software is already installed , you see a message similar to this: "My FTP Places is already installed on your computer." If you see this message, uninstall the current version of the My FTP Places and begin the installation process again.

Click on the Next, the following page will be shown:

You will see the Select Destination Location dialog box, which looks similar to the following:

Click Next. You will see the Ready to Install dialog box, which looks similar to the following:

Click Install. You will see the Completing the My FTP Places Setup Wizard dialog box, which looks similar to the following:

Click Finish. You will be asked to restart your computer. It is highly recommended to restart your computer to complete the installation. Click OK.

After restarting, on your computer's Desktop you will see the My FTP Places desktop icon, which looks similar to the following:

Double-click the My FTP Places desktop icon to run My FTP Places.
